Alice Selig, married Goldschmidt

Alica Johanna was the eldest daughter of Siegmund and Amalie Selig. She was born on July 29, 1907 in Bischofsheim.

In October 1936, she fled from Bremerhaven to Cape Town/South Africa on the ship SS "Stuttgart". Her sister Erna Frieda Rosenberg and a job were already waiting for her there. In 1937, she married Albert Löwenstein, who was born in Lünen in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1907 and died in Cape Town in 1950 at the age of 43. In 1953, she entered into a second marriage with Otto Ernst Goldschmidt. Both marriages remained childless. At the end of the 1950s, the couple lived in what was then Salisbury/Rhodesia, now Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. In 1957, she ceded all claims for compensation for her emigration to her mother Amalie Selig.

She returned to Germany and died in Frankfurt am Main on March 27, 1992. She is buried there together with her husband in the new Jewish cemetery. She spent the last years before her death in the Jewish retirement home on Bornheimer Landwehr.
