Therese Kahn, née Kahn

Therese Kahn was born on August 2, 1882 in Worfelden near Büttelborn as the daughter of Jakob Kahn II and Settchen Flörsheimer. She had three siblings. Her brother Julius fled to Chicago/Illinois/USA in 1941. The second brother Isidor died early in Frankfurt/Main. Her sister Johanna was deported from Frankfurt/Main to the Theresienstadt concentration camp in 1942 and probably died in the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944.

Therese married Hartwig Kahn from Bischofsheim on December 6, 1906. The couple lived there in the house at Frankfurter Straße 50, where her husband ran his business. Their two children were Friedrich, called Fritz, and Bina.

Little is known about Therese Kahn's life. She suffered from diabetes and died on December 24, 1941. By this time, her husband had already been deported and the children had left Bischofsheim. Due to the Nazi reprisals, she was not allowed to receive treatment by any “Aryan” doctor. She was also not allowed to go to a doctor in Mainz. Her death entry lists the cause of death as “stroke.” Therese Kahn was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Mainz.
