The "Bischofsheim Stumbling Stones" project
The "Bischofsheim remembers" project was launched in 2022. The aim is to have stumbling blocks laid for those persecuted during the National Socialist tyranny.
A "history workshop" of committed residents is compiling the biographies . In addition, a commemorative sheet will be written for each person, if possible, containing further information. Jewish victims as well as people persecuted for political, racial or religious reasons and victims of forced labor and euthanasia will be commemorated. Before the Stumbling Stones are laid and the memorial sheets are published, survivors or their descendants will be sought out and contacted. At the same time, we want to establish contact with similar initiatives, as well as with Jewish and Christian communities and institutions.
An essential element of the project is to place the remembrance work on as broad a public basis as possible. Anyone who would like to get involved is welcome to do so. You can find our events and regular meetings here.
